Due dates are estimates, not guarantees. Only around 1 in 20 babies arrive on the exact due date, so think of it as the middle of a healthy delivery window rather than a fixed deadline.

If your cycle is irregular or the date is uncertain, an early ultrasound is generally the most reliable way to date a pregnancy. Bring the estimate to your healthcare provider for confirmation.
Can my due date change during pregnancy?
Yes. An early ultrasound may adjust the estimate, especially when cycle length varies or the first day of the last period is unknown.
How many weeks pregnant am I today?
Pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period, so gestational age is usually about two weeks ahead of conception age. This is the standard used by healthcare providers.
